The Smith Optics Mt. Shasta sunglasses.
The large round shape, keyway nose, and subtly horned lug detailing are iconic elements of an archetypal outdoors sunglass, the Mt. Shasta. The only thing not exactly the same as the original are the crystal clear optics provided by Smith’s Carbonic TLT lenses. This style speaks to the golden days establishing climbs in Yosemite, while providing new inspiration for adventures yet to come.
LENS CONSTRUCTION TO OPTIMISE PERFORMANCE
ChromaPop, Techlite glass and Carbonic lens constructions are optimised to provide a variety of optical and impact-resistant benefits. Smith precisely align the finest polarised filters and finish their lenses with multi-layer mirror, Anti-Reflective (A/R), anti-scratch, and Hydroleophobic lens coatings. The end result is an artfully crafted lens that preserves colour perception and delivers optimised optical clarity and precision in all environments.
Polarisation cuts glare. Glare off of horizontal surfaces like snow, water, and asphalt, decreases depth perception, and reduces visual acuity which causes eye fatigue. Smith precisely align the polarised visual layer inside their lenses to filter out 99.9% of this "visual static" for a finely tuned view of the action.
TLT (TAPERED LENS TECHNOLOGY)
When light passes through a medium it refracts, i.e. changes course. If left uncorrected, this refraction can cause visual distortion and eye fatigue. Smith’s Tapered Lens Technology straightens out the incoming light rays by progressively tapering the lens from the optical centre toward the peripheral view. What this means for you is that you see with 100% accuracy and maximum comfort.
The Smith Optics Mt. Shasta sunglasses are suitable for small to medium adult faces.
