Smith Ski Team takes home the trophies at The North Face Park and Pipe Open
In January, 70 of the hottest young park and pipe phenoms descended on Northstar at Tahoe for their shot at glory in The North Face Park and Pipe Open.
Making his mark, Smith young gun Nick Goepper took third place on
the podium, a best result in his career to date. He showed his stuff
wwith a 270 onto the down-flat-down, into a 270 on, 270 out of the
elevated flat rail, followed by a massive left 900 tail and into a switch
left dub cork 900 on the bottom jump!
In the half pipe, Smith yet again achieved podium spots with a 1st
and 2nd place for both the men’s and women’s field. Keltie Hansen
threw down some big 540’s and 720’s to secure 2nd place and,
Dania Assaly secured 1st place.
Hometown hero David Wise put in a huge performance with back
to back 900’s followed by a double flair and a huge 180, taking 1st
place in front to roaring supporters. While Matt Margetts came out
strong and scooped 2nd place thanks to an impressive final run with
a left 900, into a right 900, to double flair, to alley-oop flat 360, into a
switch 360, into a switch 720, followed by an alley-oop flat 540 and
finished with a big 1080. Margetts 2nd place spot not only put him
on the podium for that event but, secured him a place at the coming
X Games.
With the Dew Tour and X Games fast apporaching, Smith’s
winning team looks set to continue bringing home the trophies!
