Sun and light signify life. We have our eyes to fully enjoy its beauty, and we must do everything we can to protect our eyesight. Just as it's quite natural for us to protect our skin against too much sun, it should be just as natural to protect the body's most sensitive parts: our eyes. The dificult part is that most of the danger is invisible. The human eye can only see the 380 to 780 nanometre (nm) range of the colour spectrum - blue to green, yellow, orange, red to violet. But it is the invisible UV and infrared rays, as well as the visible yet damaging blue light, which impact on the eye and can cause serious and permanent damage to them.
Even today many people still believe that very dark glasses offer especially effective protection because they reduce the strength of visible light. However, dark glasses only offer real protection if they are equipped with 100% UV protection and a particularly intensive blue-light filter.
Silhouette recognised the importance of this issue and developed lenses that can distinguish between good and harmful light.
