The recently introduced Adidas rimless inserts are recommended for use across the performance sunglass range. They are an ideal option for clients who are looking for an entirely new take on the ever-versatile prescription clip. This discreet, lightweight clip fits securely behind the tinted sunglass lenses, can easily be removed when required, and provides visual acuity for the wearer. The glazing options that we offer on the rimless inserts are Polycarbonate and Tri-Vex. Polycarbonate has been used within the optical industry for a long time, particularly in the manufacture of high quality sports sunglass lenses, and is highly reputed. It is lightweight and whilst not indestructible, is high impact resistant due to its flexible nature. Tri-Vex is a comparatively new material, having only been available on the market for a few years. Whilst not directly comparable, Tri-Vex can be considered as the ‘new generation polycarbonate’; it is extremely lightweight, provides unsurpassed impact resistance and exceptional optical clarity. When considering the purchase of a rimless insert it is worth baring in mind the fact that over time the lenses and mounting parts naturally flex with continued use, and this does place stress upon the lenses. This can result in ‘hole elongation’, a result of the drill holes, created at the point of glazing, stretching very slightly, which can lead to the lenses loosening over time. As such, it is crucial that you consider carefully the intensity of wear that you anticipate from your new rimless insert. Due to the strength of the material, lenses made from Tri-Vex have been found to retain their shape more effectively, making them the ideal partner for the Adidas Performance sports sunglass range. The Rimless Performance Insert a714 is an alternate to the fully rimmed a779 insert, and has a slightly larger lens than the a708. We only offer a single vision prescription glazing service (no bifocal or varifocal glazing available). Should you wish to try a blank optical insert fitted into your chosen sunglasses to assist the decision making process, we can, in the majority of instances, offer this as an approval service and will be happy to answer any questions that you may have. Please note that due to legal restrictions it is not possible for us to accept prescription orders for young people under the age of 16 years. However, in such instances we will happily supply an un-glazed insert for you to take to your optician. For all other prescriptions requests, we will gladly assist you in any way possible. In order that we can undertake the prescription work we will require a copy of your full prescription in its official format (ie as supplied by your practitioner), which must be in date to within the last two years. Please rest assured that a photocopied/emailed version is perfectly acceptable. We will also require your Pupil Distance (PD) measurement, which if not supplied automatically by your practitioner may be requested from them. Please be aware that the policies of different practitioners do vary in relation to this measurement, and some may apply a small fee. On some occasions we may request additional measurements depending upon the prescription that is presented, but this is addressed on a case-by-case basis, and our Customer Service Team will happily assist you with any queries that you may have. In terms of the completion timeline that you can anticipate, we will endeavour to fulfil your request as promptly as possible. Generally, unless advised otherwise, completion can be expected within one business week from the point we receive all of the necessary measurements. Should you have an imminent holiday deadline, please rest assured that we will always do our utmost to meet your requirements – please contact our Customer Service Team who will be able to advise you honestly as to whether we can accommodate your request.
