All Black Flys lenses (including all fashion lens tints) are optically correct, give 100% UVA and UVB protection and are drop ball tested for impact resistance.
Polycarbonate high index lenses are used with most nylon frames, and in metal styles where a gradient tint is used. Black Flys Polycarbonate lenses offer a super-thin, ultra-lightweight lens with superior impact resistance and are therefore ideal for use in Sport.
CR39 optical resin lenses are used where frame design dictates. Black Flys CR39 lenses are light, have high abrasion resistance and high-quality optical properties. They are also highly resistant to heat and solvents. Whilst transparent to visible light, the CR39 lens blocks both Infra-Red and Ultra-Violet ends of the spectrum.
Glass lenses are used mainly in metal styles. Black Flys glass lenses are of the highest optical quality giving optimum clarity, free of distortion. This ground and polished lens is heat tempered for impact resistance.
Black Flys Polarised Lenses
Black Flys Polarized lenses eliminate reflected glare from non-metallic horizontal surfaces such as road surfaces, water, snow, ice, and the backs of cars. This makes them ideal for many Sports.
Black Flys Anti-Reflective Coating
Black Flys anti-reflective coating reduces reflections from the inside of the lens and echo/ghost images.
Black Flys Frames
Black Flys only use the highest quality materials, and all metal hinges. Black Flys ranges include Nylon, Handmade and Metal. The Fly Girls range incorporates Nylons, Handmades and Metals.
Nylon frames are manufactured from the highest quality injected Nylon. Black Flys Nylon frames are highly durable, offering high impact and weather resistance. The all metal hinges are combined with wire core arms for extra rigidity. Where style design dictates, Grylamide nylon is used allowing a thicker cross section frame, free of sinking and without the necessity of a wire core.
Handmade Zyl styles are milled from Zylonite blocks. All Black Flys Handmade frames are carefully handmade, using precision cutting and grinding tools and a high level craftsmanship.
Nickel-Silver is used in Black Flys Metal range except (Titanium models). Black Flys Nickel-Silver frames offer increased rigidity with a unique silver-white brightness. The properties of the alloy used allow for superior electro-plating where styles dictate. Frames are polish for a smooth clean finish.
